25 Year Anniversary Book of Zeppelin Construction

Published in 1924 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Count Zeppelin's first flight with his first airship and the launch of the Zeppelin-Eckener Spende to raise public funding toward the constuction of the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin, this large format (9 1/4  x 12 1/4 inch) book presents the evolution of the Zeppelin airship by chief designer Ludwig Durr who was instrumental in the creation of every Zeppelin from the first to the Hindenburg and LZ 130.

Extensive illustrations accompany the German text with 186 illustrations and photos of exceptionally high print quality and detail. Covers every technical breakthrough including girder design, propellor efficiency, engine development, empennage design, streamlining, radio and navigation, and military and passenger payload accomodation from LZ 1 through pioneer DELAG airships, military development from the multivane tailplane airships evolving into the L10, L20 classes and on to the L30 and variants through the heightclimbers with which the German Navy finished the war.

Extensive attention to LZ 126 completed and delivered to the US Navy as ZR3 as well as it's postwar DELAG cousins Bodensee and Nordstern. Carefully avoided is any discussion of innovations and improvements incorporated into Zeppelin designs stemming from wartime use of Schutte Lanz patents such as direct props on engines, single plane rudders and elevators, internal gas exhaust shafts, internal inverted keel, etc.!

Includes exquisitely detailed drawing of LZ 126 which folds out to 19 1/4 inches!!
