Trust No Fox on his Green Heath and No Jew on His Oath
(Trau keinem Fuchs auf grüner Heid und keinem Jud bei seinem Eid)

This is the first of three anti-Semitic children’s books published by Julius Streicher’s Stürmer Publishing House. Around 110,000 copies were printed in eight editions, and the book was used in many schools. The extremely anti-Semitic text, written in Sutterlin, was written by Elvira Bauer, an 18-year-old art student and Kindergarten teacher The title comes from a phrase by Martin Luther, whose anti-Jewish remarks the Nazis were happy to use.

The book is divided into ten sections:
• The Father of the Jews is the Devil • The Eternal Jew • Jewish names • Once a Jew, always a Jew • The Cattle Jew • The Sabbath • The Jewish Lawyer • The Servant Girl • The Jewish Doctor • The Führer’s Youth

The book was presented as evidence during the Nuremberg Trials. It demonstrates the use of picture books and children’s literature to indoctrinate children into Nazi ideology, especially anti-Semitism, prior to the Wannsee Conference of 1942.
