Olympia Robust German SS Nazi Typewriter from 1942
This is an Olympia type writer, the original equipment manufacturer for the German SS
The keyboard is laid out in the same QWERTZ pattern used on other German typewriters.
The German Ä, Ö and Ü keys are present on the right side of the keyboard.
This German portable military typewriter has an important modification with the substitution of the SS sigrune
lightning bolts on the number 3 key shifted position. These machines were produced in limited units for Adolf Hitler's SS.
The typewriter was apparently denazified after the war ... at first glance.
In fact, however, only the key was replaced by the SS sign, and the SS sign on the type was retained.
The type was usually ground off, which is why intact SS types are very rare.
Another second key was replaced for unknown reasons, the exclamation mark with dot.
The new key is showing 1/2 and dot, while on the type there is still original exclamation mark with dot.
The condition of the machine is good and almost fully operational with the usual traces of use.
The typewriter's shift lock key engages, but the carriage is not at the correct height.
Either the locking plate is too short or there is another fault.
The normal shift key, on the other hand, works without any problems.
The two spools are still Original metal along with a new ribbon.
