Cologne - The Face of an old German City

A very beautiful pre-war photographic record of the old German city "Koln or Cologne", which shows the city in the late 1930's prior ww2 war destruction.

The book is mainly devoted to the architecture of the religious buildings, such as the cathedral and the churches, as these are naturally the oldest buildings in the city. However, the beautiful old town hall, museum, arsenal and old towers and gates are also photographed. Sculpture, woodcarving and painting are also featured.

A few years later, much of this magnificent culture was reduced to rubble by the bombing during the Second World War.
