Wartime Christmas - 1943
at Staraya Russa
 


This is a rare German 'Ostfront' Infantry division remembrance book for Christmas 1943, when the Wehrmacht has surrounded Staraja Russa (a town in Novgorod Oblast, Russia, located on the Polist River, 99 kilometers (62 mi) south of Veliky Novgorod.)

It has a wonderful colored map of the city, a mounted colored sketch of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ,
other churches in black and white sketches including the Transfiguration Monastery, as well as market halls, railway junction to Polist, the Lenin House, Flier barracks, a wide view of the bombed city (skyline), streets and trenches scenes, firsthand accounts etc.
