Day of German Art

If you are not familiar with this Nazi three-dimensional book Tag der Deutschen Kunst,
you need to know that it consists of a well-written text by Muller about the occasion
of the opening of the Haus der deutschen Kunst (House of German Art)
in München (Munich) in 1937.

I know of no other way for a history buff to observe a three-dimensional view of the
city of Munich decorated for one of the most festive days in its history, the first Große
Deutsche Kunstausstellung
, the arrival of the Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler’s huge Mercedes-Benz car,
statues for the Olympic Grounds in Berlin and Josef Thorak’s monument for the Reichsautobahn.

Naturally, the subject of opening of the House of German Art covers quite a wide range.

The first 22 stereo cards are correctly pasted on eight black pages in the text provided
for that purpose. These must be viewed with the viewer in the collapsed position.

Among the 100 three-dimensional views are paintings, sculptures and other works of by famous
and not so famous German artists such as Giessler, Elk Eber, Becker, Gradl, Junghanns,
Theodor Kärner, Kaspar, Klemm, Richard Klein, etc. There are even several pictures of artwork
exhibited in the Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art) exhibition.
