Gothic Cathedrals in France
The great french cathedrals of gothic and their sculptural decoration

Stunning photo book of the 4 most famous gothic cathedrals in France with 150+ full page photogravure plates.

These rich gravure reproduction photos show the beauty of Notre Dame in Paris, Chartres, Amiens and Reims in the mid 1930's. The magnificently worked sculptures on pillars and in the arches of the portals unfold the whole world of earthly and heavenly imagination of the Christian Middle Ages.

The photos were taken in the mid/late Thirties (1930's) by famous photographer Hurlimann with his premier Sinclair camera with Zeiss/Ross objectives on Agfa Isopan films, as well as Zeiss Ikon objectives for the Contax.
