Shocking german pictorial account showing the ruins of postwar Cologne.
During WWII, the city was bombed in 262 separate air raids. The most devastating attack by 1,000 Allied bombers took place on the 30th & 31st of May 1942. By 1945, the center of Cologne was almost entirely destroyed as shown in this work.
Foreword by Franz A. Hoyer. Profusely illustrated with b/w reproductions of photographs of the Hohenzollern Bridge, the cathedral, old market, Wallraf Square, bank of the river Rhine, St. Martin's, St. Mary's, St. John's, other churches, as well as street and city scenery.

In very good exterior and near fine interior condition
With the chipped Original Front panel and front flap of the very fragile Dust Jacket. Spine slightly damaged near tail, former owners inscription (pencil) on front free endpaper, otherwise ok with minor traces of use and age.
