In the Field of Force of Russelsheim
This is the first (!) German book of industrial photography which is in full color on Agfacolor.
Paul Wolff and his staff were travelling 1938/1939 through twelve German factories (which were working for the
Opel Automobile factory) with their extended photo equipment on heavy vehicles to make the first series of
industrial photography on Agfa Color, which was invented just 3 years before, in 1936.
The various factories were: Schraubenfabrik Neuß, Kolbenfabrik Mahle Bad Cannstatt, Kugellagerfabriken Schweinfurt,
Einmann-Bergwerk Otto Rompf im Siegerland, Kühlergitter-Fabrik Eßlingen, Bosch Stuttgart, Zellwollefabrik Hirschberg,
Gummifabrik in Hannover, Sicherheitsglas Herzogenrath and others ...
It was very challenging, since Dr. Paul Wolff required 30,000 Watt of Nitraphot light for the industrial scenes.
Thus it was necessary to travel with heavy vehicels for all that equipment :-)
Bad enough, after Wolff returned home with the taken photographs, he was not completely satisfied and started
the tour again and took new photos of the scenes
...... well ... remember it was 1938 (!) with no digital camera and no instant quality check!
